LAKE WAUSAU

The Wisconsin River flows between the banks in six of our seven communities, providing prime opportunities for the avid angler. The Eau Claire River and the Rib River merge with the Wisconsin River to form the uniquely shaped 1,918 acre Lake Wausau, home to many trophy fish, right in the heart of the Wausau Wisconsin area. Picturesque Half Moon Lake just a few miles down river is a fisherman’s haven, surrounded by the beauty of nature and loaded with a variety of fish species. Musky, walleye, crappie, northern pike, catfish, bluegill, bass, sunfish and yellow perch are present in Lake Wausau.

Lake Wausau is a diverse fishery with a variety of fishing opportunities available. Not only are there a number of species to fish for, but there is an assortment of structure in which to find them.

There are over 16 boat landings between Wausau and Knowlton giving you access to The Wisconsin River, Rib River, Eau Claire River, Lake Wausau, Half Moon Lake, Mosinee Flowage, Big Eau Pleine Reservoir, Lake DuBay and Mission Lake.
